The medicine of the womb is always intact
Tami Lynn Kent

It feels to me that everywhere, women are waking to the call of their womb; that the fear and shame based narratives we have been given which encourage disconnection, do not hold up, once we feel and get to know for ourselves the love and creative beauty of this space.

In truth, these narratives that many of us have lived, are pretty young and fragile in contrast to the stories, beliefs and practices of our ancestors.

Any woman who becomes a pilgrim to her body’s truth, can sense the depth of the womb current, can feel for herself the potency of her cycle, which beyond her menstruating years becomes stored in her own body for her own creative fire. And any person who lives alongside a woman and honours her body and her rhythms, also benefits from this.

Fear and oppression of the womb and women’s mysteries was initially created by biblical men who wanted to override the Goddess religions that centred the wellbeing of Whenua (land) and Tamariki (children).

For 50,000 years prior, grandmother wisdom was transmitted down the female line, passing on healing crafts that date back to the Stone Age, including how to channel wisdom through our wombs for the healing and good of the village. It may seem like an estranged concept but it is actually not that distant. I believe that our bodies, and our wombs, remember.

It is widely accepted that the shift from matriarchy to patriarchy, which marked the beginning of a change in women’s bodies and wisdom being disregarded and controlled rather than trusted and honoured, only occurred about 3000 to 3500 years ago.

Many women are remembering these Matriarchal roots that centred the wellbeing of community; alongside a knowing that only something so powerful - capable of receiving, gestating and birthing life, could be so feared.

After 6 years of close cycle tracking, I have loved going deeper still into working with womb energetics in Holistic Pelvic Care™. No matter whose story has found it’s way in, the medicine of this place is always intact.
